Generation Rent Blog-UK

Welcome to a blog for Generation Rent in the UK

Welcome to a blog written by a York, UK landlord with the needs of young tenants in mind. This blog is for all interested in property, and created for members of today's generation rent. I blog about issues that I think will affect generation rent. I hope you find the blog useful.
Generation rent refers to young people aged up to 35 who because of the current economic situation are unable to get on the property ladder and are therefore obliged to rent their homes.
Generation rent also includes students and the problems they face renting houses with friends or other students.
New legislation is being introduced all the time and I will be looking at some policies from the point of view of young people and commenting on them.
I understand the problems faced by young people and I want to help. Please, if you have any questions send them to me and I will do my best to answer them.

Some of these articles are written in consultation with Janet Barnes, herself a landlord.

It is important to vote in the EU referendum

Tomorrow, 23rd June 2016, is the EU referendum vote.  Whether you vote in or out, I feel it is SO important to vote-if you do not, your voice on this issue cannot be heard. It is my view that whatever the outcome of the EU referendum vote, generation rent will feel the impact.

It is important to do your research before voting. Even if you do not feel you will be immediately affected by the result of the EU referendum vote, you might be suprised how the result may affect you in the short and longer term.
